Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl (かしまし 〜ガール·ミーツ·ガール〜Kashimashi ~Gāru Mītsu Gāru~ is a Japanese animated television series. The episodes were directed by Nobuaki Nakanishi, and animated by the Japanese animation studio, Studio Hibari. The series was based on the manga version of the same name, and closely followed the original story from the first two manga volumes through the first nine episodes, though with some differences. In episode ten, the anime starts to deviate from the manga and after that, the storyline in the anime has no connection with the manga. The main plot in the anime is the drama that relates from the three female main characters of Hazumu Osaragi, Yasuna Kamiizumi, and Tomari Kurusu, and their romantic struggles in a love triangle. Yasuna and Tomari vie for Hazumu's affections while Hazumu is initially unable to choose between them.
The televised series aired on the TV Tokyo Japanese television network between January 11, 2006, and March 29, 2006, comprising twelve main episodes. Four pieces of theme music were used in the anime, one opening theme, two ending themes, and one insert song used in episode twelve. The opening theme is "Koisuru Kokoro" (恋するココロ, lit. "The Heart in Love") by Eufonius. The main ending theme is "Michishirube" (みちしるべ, lit. "Route Marker") by Yūmao. The second ending theme only used in the twelfth episode is "Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto" (キミのためにできること, lit. "Something I Can Do For You", also by Yūmao, and the insert song is "Hanbun" (半分, lit. "Half") by Yukari Tamura]. The episodes were released on seven DVD compilations released between April 26, 2006, and October 27, 2006, each containing two episodes. The seventh DVD also contained an Original Video Animation] episode "The Girl Fell in Love with a Girl" (少女は少女に恋をしたShōjo wa Shōjo ni Koi o Shita). The staff that produced the television series also produced the OVA. This episode is set four months after the end of the events of the anime series, set during the Christmas season.
The episodes were licensed by Media Blasters in November 2006. The episodes were not dubbed into English, but were produced with subtitles in English. The first DVD went on sale on June 12, 2007, and contained the first five episodes. Extras on the disc included two ten-minute talks between the voice actresses for the three main female characters, a small collection of Japanese television advertisements, and textless opening videos. The second DVD went on sale on August 21, 2007, and the third and final DVD went on sale on October 23, 2007; the last two DVDs contain four episodes each, including the OVA episode. The first episode of the series was included with the June 2007 issue of the Newtype USA magazine. A re-release titled Kashimashi: Girl Meet Girl Vocal Collection was released on April 26, 2011, with an English dub.

Ep. 1:The Young Boy's Life Changed That Day[]
Hazumu Osaragi confesses his love to fellow high school student, Yasuna Kamiizumi, but is turned down by her because she is romantically interested only in girls. Heartbroken, he climbs Mt. Kashima, which overlooks the city in which the story takes place, and is inadvertently killed due to an alien spacecraft crash-landing on him. In order to rectify the situation, the alien resurrects Hazumu, but in the process his physical appearance is changed to that of an atomically correct female.

Ep. 2: The Girl Realizes That She is a Girl[]
Hazumu goes through medical tests at the hospital, but the doctors do not find anything wrong with her physically. They do, however, find out that Hazumu's DNA code now reads "XX female". Hazumu attempts to adjust to living life as a girl, and goes along with wearing a female school uniform obtained by her Mother. Hazumu still retains somewhat of a male personality, and Tomari Kurusu, Hazumu's longtime childhood friend, attempts to teach Hazumu the ways of being a girl. However, Tomari, a tomboy herself, finds it difficult to see Hazumu as a girl in her heart. At the end of the episode, Hazumu is surprised by two strangers in her room.

Ep. 3: Hazumu's Heart, Yasuna's Heart[]
The two strangers turn out to be the Alien Being that brought Hazumu back to life, who takes the human name of Hitoshi Sora. With Sora is the personification of the alien's spaceship A.I. as a female android, taken from the same mold as Hazumu, named Jan Pu. At school, Yasuna unexpectedly becomes distant from Hazumu, and Hazumu worries about the future of their friendship. After randomly talking with Tomari, Hazumu gets an idea which may help save her friendship with Yasuna. Her plan involves the two butterbur flower plants she and Yasuna planted on the grounds of the school they attend. One of the butterbuts was uprooted, leaving a hole in the ground. Hazumu transplants another butterbur plant from Mt. Kashima, to the school grounds where the uprooted plant originally was. This pleases Yasuna.

Ep. 4: Girl Triangle[]
Hitoshi Sora, the alien who brought Hazumu back to life, begins to work at Hazumu's school as a biology teacher to more closely observe human beings. Later, Hazumu goes out shopping with Yasuna, she buys a pretty dress for Hazumu, then buys herself a similar dress, so that they are dressed almost alike, and look like romantic teenage girl 'soul mates'. They both end up going to a karaoke bar, where due to an accident, Hazumu once again falls and encircles Yasuna on the couch, much to Yasuna's delight. Conflict and misunderstandings begin to arise in the form of a love triangle when it begins to become active between Hazumu, Yasuna and Tomari.

Ep. 5: The Things Reflected in Yasuna's Eyes[]
Sora, the Space Alien, continues to regularly check-up on Hazumu, but asks some embarrassing questions, too. Hazumu consults with Asuta about her transformation, but to no avail. Hazumu's class gets the chance to sketch a drawing outside, but both Yasuna and Tomari want to be Hazumu's partner. They end up forming a group of three, but it quickly turns sour as Tomari brings up that Yasuna initially rejected Hazumu's Love Confession. Later, Hazumu finally learns of Yasuna's unique affliction of not being able to see males clearly. Then stating that she does not want to regret anymore, Yasuna gives Hazumu her first girl-with-girl kiss in an empty classroom. However, Tomari unexpectedly walks in on them, and is shocked at what she sees.

Ep. 6: The Bride and the Groom[]
After Hazumu and Yasuna share a most passionate kiss, Tomari, upon seeing them, is put into a quandary. Feeling confused, with a touch of betrayal, Tomari begins to distance herself from Hazumu. She already didnot especially care for Yasuna. To try and clarify her mind and heart, she begins spending time at the river's edge, sitting by herself on an abandoned 55 gallon drum. Hazumu and Yasuna grow closer as the two of them spend time together at Yasuna's house. Yasuna even tries to go in for a second kiss. Hazumu knows that something isn't kosher with Tomari,and joins her at the river's edge one evening. After baring their heartand soul to one another, the end up pledging their undying friendship and Shoujo Ai love (girl-with-girl Phila Love) to one another.

Ep. 7: To the Beach with Everyone[]
Hazumu and her friends go on a trip to the beach. All the girls are wearing bikini swimsuits, including Hazumu for the very first time. After having a few hours of fun, Hazumu goes to get some bottled water for everyone, but is held up by a couple of guys who 'hit upon' her. Asuta Soro, Hazumu's 'best buddy' male friend, comes to the rescue and saves her from the two guys who run off; Hazumu thanks him for the help. Hazumu later clears up a misunderstanding between Asuta and herself, telling him that she sees him as only a friend, and not the intimate relationship that he had hoped for, much to his dismay.

Ep. 8: Just Watching......[]
Hazumu and her friends participate in a 'Test of Courage' at their school, at night, despite Hazumu's intense protests. During this event, the students split up in groups and head through the school where scary events await them. At the end of the event, the friendship of the three female main characters strengthens.
Ep. 9: Will This Wish Come True?[]
Summer is finally here, so Hazumu and her friends participate in the annual Summer Festival. Again, all the girls wear sexy yukata's. Hazumu's indecisive personality comes to light during the festival several times, ultimately realizing that she will have to eventually choose between Yasuna and Tomari. While watching the fireworks at the end of the night, Hazumu prays that the three of them will stay together for as long as possible.

Ep. 10: A Small Storm[]
Hazumu and Yasuna go to the aquarium together, because others had committed to the activity, no one else could come due to other engagements. Tomari, for one, had to go to an athletic training camp; Hazumu and Yasuna decide go to visit Tomari at the camp, and buy her a souvenir from the aquarium's gift shop. Tomari later thinks she sees Yasuna and Hazumu kissing at the train station, causing jealousy to erupt. Later that night, Tomari actually kisses Hazumu instead.

Ep. 11: That Which Disappeared from Yasuna's View[]
Angry at Tomari for breaking their earlier promise together, Yasuna slaps Tomari on the train platform, who then slaps her back, as Hazumu stares on in shock. Astonishingly, Yasuna loses the ability to also see females after this fight and she loses much of her will to live. Tomari later figures out that Yasuna needs Hazumu more than she does and concedes to Yasuna on who should end up with her.

Ep. 12: Finally, Love Begins[]
Yasuna starts to pack with the intention to move away to live with her grandmother, without telling anyone. Meanwhile, Hazumu and Tomari have fun together the whole day around town, as Tomari wants one last fling with Hazumu. Their day together ends when Hazumu finally informs Tomari of her decision to choose Yasuna over her. Hazumu leaves to find Yasuna, but she has already left. Hazumu tries to track her down, eventually finding her still in the city. Yasuna regains her ability to see both men and women and Hazumu and Yasuna finally form a romantic relationship.

Anime OVA: The Girl Fell in Love with a Girl[]
All the lights and decorations in Kashima City give indication that the Christmas holidays are not far away. Hazumu slips a Christmas card into the mail slot at Tomari's home. Hazumu and Tomari have had strained relations since Hazumu chose Yasuna as their intimate companion. The friends plan on a holiday party. All are invited, including Tomari, but Tomari gives no indication that she will attend.
On Christmas Eve, there is a school holiday concert given, featuring Yasuna on solo flute, dressed in a sexy formal ballroom gown. The concert was a huge success. That evening, the party was held at Hazumu's house, will all in attendance, except Tomari. After the party, another holiday gig is just about to get underway. Ayuki, dressed in a sexy Santa outfit, calls upon Tomari in her bedroom, then kidnaps her. Ayuki, and Tomari inside a Santa sack, are driven about in a sleigh, by Asuta dressed as a reindeer. The group ends up at the top of Mt. Kashima, in a forest clearing, in front of a Shrine arch, with many steps. Yasuna is there, and meets privately with Tomari in front of the Shrine's steps. The two girls settle their differences, with Tomari then ascending the steps. At the top of the steps, Tomari meets Hazumu. The two talk privately, and also come to terms with one another. Tomari tells Hazumu that she will be her bride, thus fulfilling the prophesy from long ago made during their childhood years.
Jan Puu appears dressed as an angel, and creates a 'chapel in the sky'. Hazumu and Tomari are both clothed in pure white wedding dresses, complete with veils. Hazumu carries Tomari up the many steps to the chapel. Waiting there is Sora, ready to begin a private ceremony that is culminated with the two lovers engaging in a long, passionate kiss. From there, the two love birds board a sleigh, with Yasuna and the friends tagging along in the sleigh. The group flies off into the full moon, soon being lost in the bright moonlight!
